Client story · Insulation Store
Insulation Store is a builders' merchant that sells insulation, plasterboard and building supplies, mostly to the trade, with click and collect from 16 branches and delivery across the UK. Its commerce platform runs the company's online sales and launches each new store from the same code.
Insulation Store wanted to sell to the trade online and to launch several stores, not one. It had researched Magento and Shopify and did not want its growth tied to platforms that would limit what it could build and what it would pay as it grew.
It needed a platform built around how a builders' merchant sells: to trade customers, from a wide catalogue of building supplies, with click and collect from 16 branches and delivery across the UK.
With RedLayers, Insulation Store achieved
Rather than adapt an off-the-shelf store, we built a B2B commerce platform around the company's own business and designed it from the start to launch new stores from the same code.
Product search runs on Algolia, which tolerates typing errors and recommends related products, so trade buyers find what they need quickly.
InsulationBee, the company's second store, was launched from the same platform.
The platform runs at 88% lower cost than Magento or Shopify and handles all of the company's online orders.
Each new store starts from a platform the company already runs, rather than from a new subscription and a new set of limits.
What the client says
“The process began with an in-depth consultation where they took the time to understand my vision and goals for the website. They asked all the right questions, making sure no aspect was overlooked.”
