Client story · ApexReportGen
Writing a DSM-5-based psychological evaluation report took a clinician 5 hours, which limited how many evaluations each clinician could complete, how quickly families received their results and how much revenue each clinician could bring in.
The aim was to remove that limit in a form that could also be offered to other practices.
With ApexReportGen, clinicians achieved
We chose to go further than automating the paperwork and made Apex AI-first. Using OpenAI models on Microsoft Azure, it turns the clinician's short notes into formal, professional paragraphs across 50 sections, while every paragraph stays editable and the clinician decides what the report says.
Scores are handled differently. Apex reads the score reports from 69 test publisher formats covering 52 tests, such as the ABAS-3, BASC, Conners, WISC-V and WAIS, by fixed rules rather than AI, so every number in the score tables is copied from the source, never estimated.
It includes a DSM-5-TR criteria checklist, runs on HIPAA-ready infrastructure, and exports the finished report as an editable Word document with the clinic's logo and colours.
A report that used to take 5 hours now takes 10 minutes.
It has produced more than 3,800 reports, up to 350 a month, and RedLayers continues to host, run and develop it.
